More about working in Finland when not Finnish
65Where to go for a job
So here I am again, with more information about looking for a job in Finland, which believe me can be a real challenge when you are not Finnish.
The first place to go would be the biggest online search for jobs in Finland, as it has absolutely ALL the available jobs. www.mol.fi
There, you can set the website to English, using the top right hand side link, which is quite useful. Once you have the site in English, you can go to Vacancies. OK, the vacancies are shown in Finnish, so you might think that this is not convenient. However, if you write English in the field Sanahaku the result will give you all the available jobs in English.
There is a very long list of them, so it is more than possible to find something good in there.
Furthermore, whatever the country you're from in Europe and whatever the country you are planning to move to you can visit the website for EURES EURopean Employment Services. They have agents all around Europe who can help you make it as easy as possible. www.eures.europa.eu
One thing for sure is that unless you are very lucky, or have really very high competencies, you will have to be able to speak Finnish for most countries, though some jobs require you to actually speak your native language with a good English.
For more details about the whole working and living in Finland, feel free to go through mol.fi, and the parts in English will offer very useful information.
If you are planning to stay in Finland for more than 3 months, make sure that you register with the police. There are different rules depending on whether you are an EU citizen or not. Their website (in English) is http://www.poliisi.fi/poliisi/home.nsf/pages/index_eng where you should find any information you need.
Right, I hope this is helping, even if you are planning to move to another country than Finland, make sure that you check the EURES services. They are very helpful.
Any question, please leave a comment and I will try my best to get you an answer. Until the next time,
Moi moi (as they say in Finland)
Cheekymaz.
